Growing up, my cousins stayed with us most of the summer. When summer was over, we saw them mornings, weekends and holidays. It was just us five at one point, but as we grew up, we saw them less and new cousins came into our lives. As you’ve probably guessed, my family is extremely close, so we regularly reminisce about the childhood we had together.
In the cover photo, my older sister, Haley, is to the very left, my little sister, Ashley, is bottom right, and I am above her. Haley and I are only one year apart, so we often had the same friends and were into the same stuff, that also meant a log of arguing. Ashley and I are three years apart and we always have a good time together. A house full of girls can definitely be a handful, but my dad somehow put up with us, I’m surprised he still asks when we’re coming home next. I’m very thankful to have such an understanding and loving family.
I made this playlist because I’m planning on making a video about my sisters and my two cousins. My goal with the video is to make everyone cry, so I included some pretty heart jerking family songs and also some upbeat songs to really make people think about the happy times we all had. In the video, I’ll have recent videos and pictures going back and forth to home videos we have from when we were little.
My personal favorite is “Place We Were Made” by Maisie Peters. She tells a story so beautifully about growing up wanting to leave, but knowing her hometown will always be her home. She describes little details about her town no one would know but her and her family. The song makes you think of the experiences with your family that you’ve had in your home town.
