This playlist is definitely one of my favorites. I made it recently when I first saw the “To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You” preview. The song “Nobody Compares to You” by Gryffin is used for the trailer and I fell in love with the song.
Most of the songs sing about having a love interest and being heartbroken, but I’ve also included songs that make you feel empowered and independent, like “You Don’t Know Me” by Jax Jones and “Know Your Worth” by Khalid and Disclosure. The songs are all feelgood and upbeat, but you can also play them on a relaxing weekend with your friends anywhere.
The type of video I imagine these songs going in are montage scenes. You can make the person seem vulnerable yet badass with certain songs like “Oblivion” by Grimes. I picture the scenes going by pretty fast but going back and forth from scene to scene to create an illusion of how the subject in the video’s brain is working. For example, if the subject was in a hurry and confused, the clips wouldn’t be in chronological order, they’d be flashing back and forth as if you can see into the subjects mind and you’re thinking with them, not giving the viewer time to process their own thoughts of the situation in the video.
The picture I chose to use for the cover is of my cousin Ava. I took this because of the way her eyes looked in the sun and thought it was fitting because eyes are what I think of when I think of love and they are the first thing you notice when you look at someone. They would be a focus shot if I were to make a film featuring any of the songs.
